Anssaf Ali Mayo
Anssaf Ali Mayo is a Yemeni citizen and parliamentarian. He was elected to the Yemeni House of Representatives in April 27, 2003, representing Electoral District No. 20 in Aden and continues to serve in that capacity. In 2015, at the time of Spear’s attempt to assassinate him, Mr. Ali Mayo was serving as the al-Islah party chairman in Aden. In 2020, Mr. Ali Mayo was elected to serve as Chairman of the Arab Parliament’s Economic and Financial Affairs Committee.
Following the assassination attempt, Mr. Ali Mayo was forced to live in exile. As head of one of Yemen’s most prominent political parties, he has met with the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen and the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, including under both the Biden and Trump administrations.
