Global Justice Research Project
Established in 2012, the Global Justice and Research Project (GJRP) is a Liberia-based non-profit, non-governmental organization that documents war-related crimes in Liberia and, where possible, seeks justice for victims of said crimes. In partnership with Geneva-based organization Civitas Maxima, GJRP’s documentation work has led to the investigation and arrests of alleged Liberian war criminals throughout Europe and the U.S.
GJRP Executive Director Hassan Bility speaks to UN about torture and support for survivors.
Civitas Maxima is a Geneva-based NGO that ensures the coordination of a network of international lawyers and investigators who work for the interests of those who have been victims of international crimes, particularly war crimes and crimes against humanity. Since 2012, Civitas has been working in cooperation with sister organization, GJRP, to provide legal assistance to Liberian victims of war crimes. Civitas recently launched the Liberian Quest for Justice campaign, a public account of ongoing cases and trials against perpetrators of civil war era atrocities.
