Sareta Ashraph

Sareta Ashraph, Senior Legal Advisor, is an international expert on gender and genocide. An international lawyer, Sareta joins the CJA team as Senior Legal Advisor, with extensive experience at international tribunals and serving on international commissions of inquiry. From May 2012 to November 2016, Sareta was the Chief Analyst on the U.N.’s Commission of Inquiry on Syria, where she led the Commission’s investigation and reporting on crimes against the Yazidis. Most recently, she served as the Senior Analyst on the United Nations Investigative Team (UNITAD), which was established by the UN Security Council to seek accountability for international crimes committed by ISIS. She is currently a Visiting Scholar with the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict at the University of Oxford, and was previously a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics Middle East Centre, the Global Practitioner-in-Residence at Stanford Law School, and the Wasserstein Fellow at Harvard Law School.
