CJA’s 19th Anniversary Dinner
CJA’s 19th Anniversary Dinner took place on
Thursday, May 4th, 2017 in San Francisco.
CJA’s Annual Dinner, Celebrating Global Justice, brings together
elected officials, judges, leading lawyers, advocates, survivors,
and supporters to celebrate important victories
secured by CJA and our partners.
The program included a conversation on Syria between
Syrian-American journalist and civil rights lawyer Alia Malek,
author of The Home that was our Country: A Memoir of Syria
and Scott Gilmore, CJA Staff Attorney and lead lawyer for CJA’s case,
Colvin v. Syria, filed in 2016 on behalf of the family of
slain war journalist Marie Colvin.
CJA presented the 2017 Judith Lee Stronach Human Rights Award
to Youk Chhang, Executive Director of the Documentation Center
for Cambodia. The 2017 Partner in Justice Award was presented to
Morgan Lewis for their pro-bono work on behalf of
victims of the 1985 Accomarca Massacre in Peru.
