The New York Civil Liberties Union Affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union
The NYCLU is one of the nation’s foremost defenders of civil liberties and civil rights. Founded in 1951 as the New York affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, it is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization with eight chapters and regional offices and nearly 50,000 members across the state. Its mission is to defend and promote the fundamental principles and values embodied in the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, and the New York Constitution. Among the most fundamental principles are those protecting human dignity and the rule of law.

In response to the systematic infliction of psychological and physical torture by US forces, PHR‘s Campaign Against Torture seeks to restore the US commitment against torture, to ensure humane treatment of detainees, and to protect US health personnel from complicity in mistreatment and harm.
The Center for Constitutional Rights
The Center for Constitutional Rights is dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Trough its When Healers Harm campaign, CCR presents compelling evidence that supports the need for ethical, and in some cases criminal investigations of health professionals complicit in torture and other forms of abuse.
International Human Rights Law Clinic, University of California, Berkeley, School of Law
The International Human Rights Law Clinic (IHRLC) at the UC Berkeley School of Law pursues a dual mission: promoting justice at home and abroad and training attorneys for a changing profession. Together, CJA and IHRLC created a website to help the public explore this issue and join a national debate about health ethics and torture
