Megdi Abebe, Development and Social Media Coordinator, has several years experience in digital advocacy communications. She has previously completed internships at international organizations such as the Media Diversity Institute (U.K.) which works to eliminate media bias in reporting and the Western Cape Network (South Africa) where she assisted staff on an administrative and research level. She has gathered work experiences at Human Rights First in D.C. where she designed the first comprehensive digital media plan to increase online engagement on all social media channels and as a consultant for the ACLU where she lead digital efforts including developing op-eds and other written materials, graphics, social media posts and digital budgets for the Smart Justice Campaign, which aims to significantly reduce incarceration rates in Michigan.
She received her degree in journalism with focuses in international reporting, community advocacy and peace justice studies from Michigan State University in May 2016. Her specialties include writing and editing, storytelling, digital engagement, and social media.
